Do you wish to save on your next electricity bill? You can exactly do that with the help of electricity reduction incentive program launched by Ontario Power Authority (OPA) along with Eastern Ontario Power. Electricity is one of the core resources for most industries and power bills form a substantial part of the expense every business incurs in their operational costs. As a business owner the smart thing to do would to reduce power consumption with the usage of energy efficient lightening.
The electricity reduction incentive program supports all those business and industry owners who are willing to adopt energy efficient measures. Not only will it reduce electricity bills but the implementers are rewarded with government lighting rebates and other incentives too. The electricity reduction incentive program is designed to encourage usage of energy saving measures in the existing electrical infrastructure.
To benefit from lighting incentives you have to send a duly filled Project Application Form which can be done before or after the commencement of the project. In case you chose to do the latter the proposed energy efficient measures along with the form should be mailed within 60 days of installation. The form should contain the sum total of the lighting incentives mentioned in a worksheet attached with the form.
In case you have already purchased the equipment you should attach purchase invoices containing model numbers and quantity. In addition to this the specification sheets of manufacturers must also be sent. Alternately if you are sending the form for pre-approval you may simply give an estimate of the total costs that may be incurred for energy efficient measures.
Electrical machineries are also inclusive in the government lighting rebates list. The list includes such machines as:
You need to also keep in mind that all proposed/completed retrofitting should be within an existing structure otherwise your form will be canceled. The authorities will determine the amount for lighting grants based on $400/kW or $0.05/kWh that is saved by the new lighting measures and $800/kW or $0.10/kWh saved by Non-Lighting Measures. Only those motors that run for a minimum of 2000 hours per year will be taken into consideration for these incentives. The complementary funding or lighting can be applied for from a list of agencies specified by OPA.
Are you already thinking of retrofitting your existing structures and getting lighting incentives? You will not only be benefiting yourself but for future generations too. Energy is a priced commodity as most of the nom-renewable sources such as coal and petroleum are fast depleting.
